Saturday we found ourselves searching out another "Organic" market.
First let me back up just a little...as our first market was last weekend, held on Sunday's at the Great Park in Irvine (near the big ORANGE balloon). We really liked it but wanted to check out the UCI market.
Now back to the beginning...off we went Saturday morning. It had quite a few vendors. Mostly fresh Organic fruits and vegitables. Of course, not all are Organic certified. But most all claimed that they sold pesticide free.
Side note...it's our understanding that why most don't certify themselves Organic. Apparently the government takes 1% of their sales on top of regular taxes because it's Organic. Sheesh! I just don't get that?
I have to say, even though UCI had a much larger market I lean a little more towards the Great Park Market. The fruit and vegis don't look so lifeless, as many did at Saturday's market.
I snapped a few shots of some of the colorful goodness we saw and bought. My favorite time of year is Spring. So many of my favorite fruits (raspberries, blackberries, strawberries & blueberries) are in season and they are sweet, yummy goodness.
If you are in an area where you can save a little bit of money and also support local growers and buying Organic and/or pesticide free products you should definitely try it out. At least once.

I'm so very jealous of the markets you have available to you!
We look and look and look out here, and are disappointed each time. Seriously, you can find farmer's markets every weekend out here, somewhere. However, they have maybe one banquet table of pathetic looking stuff and everything else is all honey, bread, pasta or arts and crafts. Ugh!
