Helping Feed the Hungry - Local PEACE Trip

Today we were blessed to take part in a local PEACE plan; helping feed the homeless and hungry in Santa Ana.

I wasn't sure what to expect before we got there. Would it be a safe area? Would we be put in uncomfortable situations?

What I failed to remember was what I read this morning in God's word.
"The Lord gives His people strength. The Lord grants His people security." Psalms 29:11

It was perfect weather today. We had lots of people to help out; many who were young adults (high school age) and some even younger children. Our future is our youth and to watch them in action was humbling. "Ready to serve" was their attitude.

What a remarkable day - making breakfast for many less fortunate and being reminded of all the blessings we have in our own lives - roofs over our heads, warm beds to sleep in, clean clothes to wear, food on the table.

Pancakes anyone?

The P.E.A.C.E. Plan is a massive effort to mobilize Christians around the world to address what Pastor Rick calls the “five global giants” of spiritual emptiness, corrupt leadership, poverty, disease, and illiteracy by Promoting reconciliation, Equipping servant leaders, Assisting the poor, Caring for the sick, and Educating the next generation.

If you ever get the opportunity to participate in local community work, helping the less fortunate - consider it. Not only are you blessing others, you will be doubly blessed.
